Source control doesn't show changes for png images

Repro steps:

1. Modify png in repository
2. Open Source Control
3. Open changes for the png
4. "An error occurred while loading the image." is shown instead of the image before changes.

Expected result: previous image is shown on the left.

Removing workspace and disabling extensions did not fix this issue.

I'm reporting this on version 1.110 because from my tests it's the first version that has this feature broken - all following versions have this problem.
I first encountered this issue for 1.118 and since I was unable to fix it by removing workspace and disabling extensions I've started checking previous versions and it works for version 1.109. Downgrading is the only thing that resolved this issue for me.
