`"chat.disableAIFeatures": true` randomly disappears from the config after updates

• VS Code Version: 1.121.0 (but also happened previously)
• OS Version: Windows 10 + Windows 11 - likely not relevant

As someone who does not like nor use AI features i use "chat.disableAIFeatures": true to disable them (glad to have this option btw!). However, it's now the second time that after updating vscode, I saw AI-related UI elements and when checking my user config json, this setting was no longer there.

Could Settings Sync be involved?

I have settings sync enabled, but AI was disabled on all my systems. In fact, when I disabled it a while ago after it got re-enabled, the disabled setting was properly synced to my other systems. Likewise this time: I disabled it on PC 1, and on PC 2 it synced that change.

• What exact steps trigger this? Does it happen on every update, only certain updates, or in a specific scenario like restoring VS Code after a reinstall?
• Where is the setting configured — User Settings, Workspace Settings, or a Profile?

It's configured on the user level, I do not use profiles. So it's in .../AppData/Roaming/Code/User/settings.json.

And no, I don't think it happened after every update. I'll make sure to have a closer look after the next updates to see if/when it happens again.
