Regression: quick open flickers when searching (briefly shows no results?)

Steps to Reproduce:

1. clear recently opened in quick open
2. search for "opener" in VSCode repo and open it
3. open quick open again and slowly start to type "opener"
4. after each keystroke I see the search results briefly disappearing entirely before coming back

I cannot reproduce that in stable. I am on Linux.
