Don't auto-update to newer version of vscode if it's incompatible with the current OS #81587

@ghost

Description

auto_updater

  1. Auto-updaters are generally good
  2. Apps such as VSCode dropping older OS is totally reasonable
  3. Apps auto-updating themselves to incompatible versions is bad
  • VSCode Version: VSCode 1.35.1
  • OS Version: OS X 10.9.5 (13F1911)

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Install VSCode 1.35.1 on OS X 10.9.5
  2. Launch it, and use it for a while as usual
  3. Quit VSCode
  4. Relaunch it
  5. VSCode has been auto-updated to an incompatible version and no longer launches

Does this issue occur when all extensions are disabled?: Yes

Is it possible to turn off auto-updating server-side for 10.9 clients?
