Considering globalcdn.nuget.org is as far as I can tell the official site used by Microsoft's NuGet team to serve package downloads from, it seems like a very safe domain to me.

Digging into this, the top Internet search result I get for Microsoft.UI.Xaml is their GitHub repo.

While this version isn't listed among the repo's releases, the 2.5.0 version has that version's manifest's PackageUrl as the top line of the release:

The situation is convoluted in the sense that the UI XAML GitHub repo's Releases simply do not offer any executables or binaries for ≤2.6.x at all. Trust me, I've tried to find any.

So when I discovered that for some reason the .nupkg NuGet files for ≤2.6.x contained .appx binaries inside them, I instantly knew that this was the moment I had been waiting for.
