I recently discovered, and have been in contact with Nixxes from Sony about, a bug that occurred after a recent Windows or Xbox software update that included the latest version of GameInput. In PC games that use Sony's own DualSense controller drivers, there is now a conflict between GameInput and those DualSense drivers, but only for the DualSense Edge controller. That's the one with the extra back paddles.
The conflict manifests in a constant input-switching between the two input systems, which can cause issues depending on the game. On the Marvel's Spider-Man titles (Remastered, Miles Morales, and 2) as well as Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, the conflict causes the controller to appear unresponsive. In other games, such as Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut, the controller seems to work fine, but certain menus will behave incorrectly, like the controller input menu.
I have a Reddit thread where I have been documenting the issue since it has first appeared and keeping track of my correspondence with Nixxes. In the post and a recent comment, I outlined a temporary workaround that Nixxes has found where I can disable the game's GameInput support through the system registry. This forces the game to rely on Sony's own drivers and it works correctly.
When using a normal DualSense controller, the issue does not seem to manifest, but I might need to do more double-checking.
Since the workaround, Nixxes recently got back to me and said they could reproduce the issue, but only if they manually updated the version of GameInput on their machines to this latest version.
