Getting Started

A brief walk-through on getting started with the UAC Launch Control application.

1. Download and install the application

Follow the steps in the Install wiki to install UAC Launch Control on your system.

2. Checking and setting default paths

When you open the application the first time, its recommended to check all default paths are correct and to your liking.

See Settings -> Paths tab for more.

3. Install you first game instance

In UAC Launch Control a Game Instance is referring to the specific combination of wads, mods and load orders. It is basically what dictates the final run command that the application gets rid of.

3.1. Click the Install tab in the top navigation

This will show you the form to create the actual game instance.

Fill out the required fields as you please:

  • A Label/title (i.e Project Brutality Phase 2)
  • Base wad (i.e FreeDoom: Phase 2)

These are the only required to create a game. image

Optional fields

The Screenshot field can be used to paste an URL for a screenshot or any online image, which will be used as the Game Instance "fron cover" on the Launch page, just as the description will be shown there, when hovering the individual game card.

The rest will be prefilled according to your applications core_settings.

3.2 Add a Mod File

  • Click the + Add file button.
This will add a mod file instance, where you can use the folder icon () button to select a mod file on your file system.
You can give the mod file a "pretty name"/title, if your mod file has a abbreviated or shorthand name - this "pretty name" is what your mod file will be referred to in you mod file catalog.

  • Clicking the + Add file button again lets you add another file in the exact same way, or you can click the Catalog drop down to any mods already in your Mod File Catalog.

  • Below the mod file instances, you can drag/drop their load order, if the mod files require a specific order of loading.

  • Click the Create Protocol at the button when you have filled out and set the information to your want.

A notification will now confirm that the game instance has been created and you will be returned to the main Launch overview.

4. Rip and tear

  • On the Launch view hover your newly created Game Instances/Protocol.
This brings its description into view, as well as a Launch and Adjust button.

  • Give the Launch button a click to get ripping and tearing.
