Sorry it took a minute, but after some work I have the website and forums up and running. I never realized what goes into a website in 2026. But after getting certs, and dropping the security levels it should be useable now.
I want to say that everyone who uses this, or contributes / works on it is f*cking amazing! I am working on another version, meant for use in school and business environments. Its a single binary (EXE) for Windows Systems that contains everything - 177+ tools, built in skills, built in agents. I built a custom schematic viewer for the tooling to use to show you schematic work in almost real time.
KiCAD MCP Server will be worked on and supported on for a long time.
The new project is separate and is yet to be named (im taking suggestions).
It is finally in BETA testing, so if you are interested you can go to the forums and express interest and I will start adding people. This is NOT the same tool, this was written in Rust and C to try to get the tool and everything needed into a 7mb file. Everything should auto install on first run, installing skills and agents to assist in the design process.
There will be a student / free version and the Pro version. Students and tinkerers will be given same access as PRO just minus a few custom toolboxes aimed a professional designers.
BETA testers, Im looking for 10 people who use KiCAD MCP regularly. I would love for you to try the new tool and submit your feedback to me, probably in the forums or email. This is two fold, I am obviously troubleshooting the project code, but also looking to train a Qwen 3.6 or Gemma 4 Model so people can have tool use that is 100% local. Having errors and actual tool calls from your usage, if you are willing, will help me get the data right for training.
The tool is completely self contained, I collect no data - ZERO. The tool will call out to a license server hosted @ Orchis.ai My hope is this will allow the tooling to be acceptable to corporate environments, no package downloads, no unmanaged dependencies, and we never touch or see your data.
And again, KiCAD MCP is staying right where it is. It is a an amazing community driven project, has amazing contributors, so it wont change or go away.
Hope everyone is doing well!
