Welcome to the JavaPOS-SPF wiki!
There are some requirements that must be fulfilled to use this framework:
- Java RE, version 1.6 or above as runtime environment,
- JavaPOS, version 1.14, from http://monroecs.com/unifiedpos.htm as JavaPOS base,
- Apache Log4j, version 1.2.7, from http://www.apache.org/dyn/closer.cgi/logging/log4j/1.2.17/log4j-1.2.17.zip for logging,
- jSSC, version 2.7.0, from https://storage.googleapis.com/google-code-archive-downloads/v2/code.google.com/java-simple-serial-connector/jSSC-2.7.0-Release.zip for serial IO.
To create a jar file from source, you can use tools like the java compiler and an archive generator like 7zip or an IDE, e.g. Eclipse or IntelliJ Idea.
The following device classes are supported by JavaPOS-SPF:
CashDrawer, CAT, CoinDispenser, ElectronicJournal, FiscalPrinter, Keylock, LineDisplay, MICR, MSR, POSKeyboard, POSPrinter, RemoteOrderDisplay, Scale, Scanner and ToneIndicator.
Some sample implementations, together with TCL scripts simulating a POS device, are available now. To use the device simulators, you can use any TCL interpreter version 8.5 or above. If you do not have a TCL interpreter on your development system, you can find a stand-alone interpreter here:

To test service objects, you can use any POS application that supports the use of JavaPOS service objects conforming to the UPOS standard, version 1.14. In addition, you can use JavaPOS test tools, e.g.
- JavaPOS POSTest (https://sourceforge.net/projects/postest/files/latest/download),
- JavaPOS POSTest2 (https://sourceforge.net/projects/javapospostest2/files/latest/download).
Unfortunately, both POSTest tools do not support all device classes listed above. In addition, POSTest2 cannot be used to test LineDisplay devices and both devices have problems with shareable devices and - for some device classes - with asynchronous IO.
