Actor Sheet Overview

image

This page explains the key sections of the actor sheet in our Star Trek Adventures Foundry VTT system. It covers how attributes, disciplines, tracks, and traits work, as well as the built-in automation for both 1st and 2nd edition rules.

Character Tab

At the top left, you’ll see the character’s image and name. Below that is the Reputation track. For STA 2e, this track is 5 long by default, while for STA 1e, it’s 20 long. You can adjust these lengths in the settings if you need custom values.

Below the Reputation track is the Determination bar, which is set to a length of 3 by default. Under that is the Stress track, which is dynamically calculated based on the character’s Attributes and Disciplines. Any Traits or Talents (like “Tough” or “Resolute”) that modify Stress will also update this track automatically.

On the left side, you’ll see the Attributes and Disciplines listed with checkboxes. When you perform a task roll, you check one Attribute and one Discipline to combine them. There’s also a “Set Reputation as Discipline” option for STA 2e, which replaces the Discipline value with your Reputation for certain rolls.

Below these fields, you have buttons like Perform Task (for rolling tasks), Roll Acclaim (used at the end of a campaign for reputation changes), and if you’re in STA 1e, a Perform Challenge button for challenge rolls. There’s also a Stress Modifier box to manually adjust Stress if house rules require it.

At the bottom, you can record the character’s Species, Rank, Assignment, and other background details.

Traits Tab

In the Traits tab, you can see the character’s Values, Talents, Focuses, Traits, and Belongings (like weapons, armor, or gear). Injuries are also listed here. You can drag items from the items directory onto the sheet to add them.

Development Tab

The Development tab includes a Character Log to record missions, Milestones and Arcs for tracking character growth, and a table for checking off improvements. This helps you keep track of how your character evolves over time.

Notes Tab

The Notes tab is a simple text area for keeping any additional notes, like NPC names or story details.

Starship Sheet

The starship sheet is similar in design to the character sheet, but tailored for vessels.

At the top left, you’ll find the starship’s image and name. Below that is the Crew Support track, which is dynamically set based on the ship’s scale. The Shield track is also dynamic and depends on Systems, Departments, and any relevant Talents.

For STA 2e, there’s a Reserve Power checkbox and a Shaken checkbox. For STA 1e, you’d have a full Power track instead. You can also manually fill in the Scale and Resistance values.

On the left, you have Systems and Departments with names, checkboxes, and values. There’s an additional Breach column to record breaches when the ship is damaged. If breaches hit certain thresholds, the color changes to show if the ship is disabled or destroyed.

Below that, you have the Perform Task button and modifiers for Shields and Crew if house rules require adjustments. All starship details, like service date, mission profile, talents, traits, and cargo, are on a single page rather than multiple tabs.

Small Craft Sheet

The small craft sheet mirrors the starship sheet but does not include a Crew Support track or a Launch Bay section. Everything else functions similarly for smaller vessels.

Scene Traits Actor

image

You can drag a Scene Traits actor into a scene to set environmental traits like “dark,” “cold,” or “smelly.” If you add a trait like "Complication Range +1", it temporarily adjusts the default complication range for all rolls in that scene. Removing the trait returns it to normal.

Extended Tasks Sheet

The Extended Tasks sheet allows you to set the length of a work track, difficulty, magnitude, and resistance for long-term tasks. You can also add notes about what the task involves.

Setting Actor Sheet Types

image image

In the settings menu under Default Document Sheets, you can choose whether a new actor uses the 1e, 2e, or NPC sheet by default. You can also override this on a per-actor basis, allowing you to mix 1e, 2e, and NPC sheets in the same game.

For 2e NPCs, you can choose whether they are Minor (no personal threat), Notable (personal threat 3), or Major (personal threat
