Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
I'm always frustrated when I want to remove only a specific portion of a conversation — such as a few irrelevant exchanges or accidentally shared sensitive information — but the only option available is to delete the entire chat. This forces me to either keep unwanted messages or lose the entire conversation history I'd like to preserve.
Describe the solution you'd like
I would like the ability to select and delete individual messages or a contiguous range of messages within a conversation, without affecting the rest of the chat history. Ideally, this would be accessible via a per-message context menu (e.g., right-click or a "..." button) with a "Delete this message" or "Delete selected messages" option.
Describe alternatives you've considered
Editing messages: Claude already allows editing a user message, but this only regenerates the response from that point — it does not remove messages cleanly from the visible history.
Deleting the entire conversation: This is the only current deletion option, but it is too destructive when only a small portion needs to be removed.
Starting a new conversation: This preserves nothing from the original chat, which is not acceptable when the bulk of the conversation is still valuable.
Additional context
This feature is particularly important for users who share sensitive or confidential information mid-conversation by mistake, as well as for professionals who maintain long working sessions with Claude and need to keep their conversation history clean and organized. A granular deletion option would meaningfully improve both privacy control and conversation management.
