opentelemetry instrumentation

I am a developer on Phoenix and OpenInference building observability tools for AI developers. I am wondering if there is interest in having auto-instrumentation for MCP, and if so, if any of the core MCP contributors would be interested in being design partners.

I think this is beyond the scope of the SDK and we will not implement OpenTelemetry into the SDK. It should be fairly straight forward to build OpenTelemetry on top of the existing SDK.

Thanks for the reply @dsp-ant. I had in mind implementing a third-party auto-instrumentor. I would be implementing this and it wouldn't take development cycles on your end, but I would definitely appreciate feedback from the MCP team if it is of interest.
