Description

Add Alibaba Cloud OPS MCP Server to README

Server Details

Motivation and Context

alibaba-cloud-ops-mcp-server is an official MCP Server designed specifically for Alibaba Cloud resource management. It integrates Alibaba Cloud Open API and system operation and maintenance management (OOS) capabilities to provide a series of powerful tool support for AI assistants. These tools cover the life cycle management of Alibaba Cloud resources (such as creation, start, stop, restart, etc.), including cloud monitoring data acquisition, running commands, changing system images, etc., and currently cover resources such as ECS instances, RDS instances, and OSS Buckets. With alibaba-cloud-ops-mcp-server, users can interact with AI assistants through natural language and quickly complete complex operation and maintenance tasks.

How Has This Been Tested?

It has been tested in MCP inspector and some MCP clients(such as: Cline, Cherry-Studio).

@zhaoshuaibo-china Sorry, but I'm extremely skeptical of this url.

As far as I can tell, the official Alibaba Open Source org on GitHub is https://github.com/ALIBABA not https://github.com/aliyun/

I thought, oh, they might be loosey goosey with their open source stuff, so I looked into it.

The aliyun org has 1.4k followers and 568 repos, seems impressive. But there are only twelve contributors. Meanwhile Alibaba's org has 451 repos, 16k+ followers, and 150 contributors. Seems way more legit for that many repos.

I highly doubt Alibaba would sidestep their official registry for anything. I'm closing this, but if you can somehow PROVE beyond a shadow of a doubt that this is an official repo, feel free to drop another comment here.

Hi @cliffhall , thank you for your feedback and for being cautious about the repository's legitimacy.

I understand your concerns. To clarify:

  1. The organization aliyun on GitHub is indeed an official Alibaba Group entity, specifically representing products and services under Alibaba Cloud (阿里云). While ALIBABA is a broader open source presence for Alibaba Group, aliyun focuses more on cloud-related open source projects, documentation, and tools.

  2. This project (https://github.com/aliyun/xxx) is one of the officially maintained open source projects by Alibaba Cloud. You can verify its authenticity through: http://www.alibabacloud.com/

  3. As you can see, The official Integrations in the official readme, Alibaba Cloud AnalyticDB for MySQL is also in the aliyun repo. We are all official MCP servers under the Alibaba Cloud organization.

If you have any further questions or would like additional verification, I'm happy to provide more evidence or context.

Could we please reopen the PR to continue the discussion? Thank you again for your attention to quality and openness!

Thank you for understanding, @zhaoshuaibo-china.

I did a little more research, and found a Gartner review confirming that alibabacloud.com was the official site of Alibaba Cloud, a subsidiary of Alibaba, and the Github/aliyun repo is verified as the owner of that domain.
