  • I have ensured my Modrinth App installation is up to date

What version of the Modrinth App are you using?

0.9.2 (flatpak)

What operating systems are you seeing the problem on?

Linux

Describe the bug

I've installed the Modrinth Launcher from FlatPak and it was working perfectly for a couple of weeks. Then an automatic update started downloading:

I have no option to prevent this update from taking place. I don't really understand why the launcher would update itself anyways since it was downloaded from a software repository (FlatPak). As I understand software repositories, all updates should be distributed through the repository and not some built-in updater within the package. Not sure why this feature is present in the Linux FlatPak version in the first place.

The update fails every time with the error above. I assume the updater tries to modify certain files and fails due to lack of permissions.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Install the Modrinth Launcher from FlatPak
  2. Wait for an automatic update to occur
  3. The launcher throws an error before finishing the update.

Expected behavior

The update should either finish successfully, or even better - should occur through FlatPak instead of a built-in update mechanism.
