PasaScope 1.9.0: message boxes in PasaScope's own style, and an easier Knowledge page.

Changed

• Confirmations, warnings and errors now open as a PasaScope card instead of the system's alert: a coloured icon, the title as a heading, the app's own buttons, and the window behind dimmed. A button that deletes something is red and is not the default, so pressing Enter cancels. The delete-session and attest confirmations name their buttons ("Delete session", "Attest") instead of Yes.
• Knowledge (F1) is easier to read: the text sits in a centred column instead of running across the whole window, topics are grouped under three headings, and every article links to the previous and next topic.
• The measure guide opens with a reminder that no measure says whether a child is autistic, a key to main, supporting and background measures, and links to jump to each group. Each measure is a short entry with its tag and "what it is / how it helps / watch for" lined up.
• Fixed Thai words in the measure guide that showed a vowel on a dotted circle (ค◌ือ, จ◌ำนวน).

PasaScope 1.8.3

PasaScope 1.8.3: speech is no longer lost when the transcriber gets stuck repeating a phrase.

Fixed

• Whisper sometimes writes one phrase over and over for a whole stretch of a recording ("สีแดง สีแดง สีแดง …"). PasaScope used to drop that stretch, together with the real speech in it. It now transcribes that stretch once more on its own, which usually brings the speech back. In our tests on Thai toddler recordings (accurate mode), lost child utterances fell from 26 to 5 of 196.
• Recordings where this happens take a little longer to transcribe. Everything else transcribes exactly as before.

As always, the draft is for you to check against the recording before attesting.

PasaScope 1.8.2

PasaScope 1.8.2: short lines are kept for you to check instead of disappearing.

Fixed

• When Whisper doubted that anyone was speaking, PasaScope used to delete the line without telling you. In the Thai fast mode this removed whole stretches of real conversation, including child utterances. Those lines are now kept and highlighted on the Transcript tab, with the reason ("Possibly no speech") in the side panel. Listen to the line: if someone spoke, confirm the speaker (Ctrl+1 or Ctrl+2); if not, delete it.
• Text that cannot be speech (empty text, a phrase repeated in a loop, text far too fast for the audio) is still removed as before.
• English transcripts and the Thai accurate mode are unchanged: in our tests the rule never removed anything there.

PasaScope 1.8.1: a fix for "out of date" that would not go away.

Fixed

• After you edit an analysed transcript, the session's findings and report are marked out of date. Pressing Analyse again now clears the mark: before this fix, the Findings tab kept saying "The transcript changed after the last analysis" even though the analysis had run. A redrafted report is likewise no longer shown as Out of date.
• If a session is stuck on that message, open its Findings tab after updating and press Analyse once.

Nothing else changes in how transcripts are drafted or how measures are counted.

PasaScope 1.8.0

PasaScope 1.8.0: a new workspace, a first-start walkthrough, and updates that install themselves.

New

• Several sessions open at once. Cases are listed in the side bar with their sessions under them, and each session opens in its own tab, so you can keep several open and switch between them without losing your place or your edits (a ● marks unsaved ones). Type to find anything: Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+P for every command, Ctrl/Cmd+P to open a case or session. The tabs you had open come back next time.
• Light and dark themes that follow your computer (Settings → Appearance).
• A start screen while PasaScope loads, and a short walkthrough on a new computer: what PasaScope does, what to know before you start, and your name for signing.
• Updates install themselves. From now on, Help → Check for updates downloads the new version, backs up your data first and installs it over this one: choose Restart now, or Later to install when you quit. Nothing needs uninstalling.
• While a recording plays, the line being spoken is highlighted in the transcript and kept in view.
• Short messages confirm when work is saved, attested, signed or analysed; pages fade in (Settings → Motion follows your computer's Reduce motion).

Faster

• Long transcripts open, save and attest at once (500 lines took about 6 seconds).
• Backups show their progress and can be cancelled; restoring shows its progress too.

PasaScope 1.7.7

PasaScope 1.7.7: clear playback when checking a transcript.

Fixed

• Recordings now play at their own quality. When you listened back on the Transcript step, PasaScope played the 16 kHz mono copy it makes for speech recognition and left the sound system to convert it with a tiny buffer, so voices sounded muffled and crackled. WAV, MP3, FLAC and Ogg recordings now play as they are; M4A, MP4 and WebM are converted once at their own sample rate, in stereo. Playback uses a larger buffer, so it no longer breaks up while the program is busy.

PasaScope 1.7.6: edit and delete cases.

What's new

• Right-click a case in the sidebar (or use ⋯ beside its name, or the new Case menu) to open it, start a session, edit its nickname, age, language and notes, record or withdraw consent, or delete it. The Delete key works on the selected case.
• Deleting a case shows what will be removed (sessions, recordings, transcripts, reports, with signed reports called out), offers a backup first, and asks you to type the child's code. Everything of that case is removed from this computer; the audit log keeps a note of the deletion, without its content. Exported files and backups are not touched.
• Delete a single session by right-clicking it in the case overview.
• English forms now say "Save" on their save button (it said "Notes").

PasaScope 1.7.5

PasaScope 1.7.5: now on Windows, English first, and the evaluation in one place.

What's new

• Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit). Download PasaScope-1.7.5-windows-x64-setup.exe (added to this release by GitHub Actions a few minutes after publishing). It installs for your user without administrator rights. The installer is not signed yet: if SmartScreen warns you, click More info, then Run anyway.
• Updates on each platform. Help → Check for updates finds the installer for your computer. On Windows the installer opens and PasaScope closes so it can be replaced.
• English first. The install window, the README and the website lead in English, with Thai alongside.
• Clearer first launch on macOS 15 and later. If macOS blocks PasaScope: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway.
• Evaluation. The main measures (MLU-w, NDW-100, MATTR-50, VOCD-D) agree with CLAN on 1,961 transcripts (ICC ≥ 0.9997). Thai transcription: 6.5% character error rate in accurate mode on read speech. See reports/metrics/EVALUATION_SUMMARY.md.
