Typed effect "fade"

There are four options for the setting "typed effect", among them "keep" and "fade". I can see the effect change when I choose one of the other two options, "hide" or "dots", but I can't see a difference between the options "keep" and "fade".

Does this setting depend on other settings? In what mode do I need to practice to see a difference between those two effects "keep" and "fade"? Where would I need to guide my attention to in order to notice the difference between those two effects?

keep is basically "no effect" (the default option)

fade makes typed words disappear

and it doesn't depend on a specific test mode, typed effects work mostly anywhere

the fade effect is very easy to notice, your device/browser may have "reduced motion" enabled which can turn off that fade animation.

That was it. I use macOS and did indeed have the setting "Reduce motion" enabled in the macOS settings. That made the option "fade" have no effect and look exactly like the option "keep". Hence I couldn't notice a difference between them. Interestingly, "hide" and "dots" worked despite "Reduce motion" enabled.

Once I disabled the system setting "Reduce motion", I could immediately see the difference between "fade" and "keep". The "fade" effect is obvious.
