"NativeRopeServer" not declared in current scope. Godot 4.4

I'm trying to get a fishing game working in Godot 4.4 and this library would be perfect for making the game function!

Sadly the addon installs with errors and any mention of NativeRopeServer is counted as "not declared". I'm wondering if this is because of the UID changes in Godot 4.4?

Are there any quick fixes I can perform to make it work?

I'm on Pop OS 22.04 LTS, on a Lenovo Thinkpad E14

I just tested a fresh install on a new project and it works fine.
Make sure you enable the addon in the project settings.

Unlikely, Godot just generates them if they are missing.

How did you install it? Manually or using the Asset Library?
Could you provide a minimal reproduction project?

I installed it through the asset library! I haven't tried to do it manually - is the one on the asset library older?

Here's a minimal reproduction project: the same errors happened here on asset library install.

Asset library is up-to-date and is the easiest way to get it.
I just tested your project and it works fine for me...
Could you provide the log output after trying to enable it?

Alright! I understand the problem now - should have read the top of the error mess earlier.

As I understand it, pop os is locked to an older version of glibc (2.35). I'm reading various reddit posts and there are lots of horror stories of upgrading it manually then bricking their OS. Love this for me!

I'm wondering if I can jury rig this library to work with GLIBC_2.35 - does it use anything that is fundamental to later versions?

Aha! I updated the build script to build on 22.04, that should solve the issue.
After it finished building, I'll test it on my machine with latest glibc to check the compatibility with newer versions.

Is the build script something that takes place in assetlib immediately? Just wanting to know when I should try again

No it runs on Github. Under the "Actions" tab you can see all recent builds. After a build finished you can download the addon zip from there.
The current build just finished and you can get it here.
It will not immediately publish to the AL unfortunately. I need to manually create a release and update the download URL on the AL. Then a maintainer needs to approve it before it goes live.

Seems to work with latest glibc.
Let me know if it works for you, then I'll get an update on the way. Until then you can use the version from the build workflow.

FYI, the change was already accepted and is now available on the AL.
