v0.1.1 — one-step setup

Choose a tag to compare

@kiesxoxo kiesxoxo released this 08 Oct 11:05

One-step setup, and a fix for building from a fresh download.

Vibe-coded with Claude. Written by Claude (Anthropic, Claude Opus 5.5 via Claude Code) under the
direction of the repository owner. Tested on one PC only.

Quick start

  1. Download the source below (or clone) and open PowerShell in the folder.
  2. powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File .\setup.ps1 -Package "D:\path\to\your\package"
  3. Play out\build\win-amd64-relwithdebinfo\burnoutcrash.exe (or add -Run to step 2).

setup.ps1 installs any missing build tools with winget (after asking), downloads and verifies the
ReXGlue SDK, verifies and extracts your own Burnout CRASH! package, checks it's the supported version
(XBLA, title update 3), and builds. See the README for details and manual setup.

Changes since v0.1.0

  • New setup.ps1 and a quick-start guide in the README.
  • Fixed: building from a fresh checkout failed to link (undefined symbol PPCImageConfig) because the
recompiled sources didn't exist yet when CMake configured. build.ps1 now generates them first.

No prebuilt binaries

The executable is the game's own code, recompiled, so it can't be distributed; you build it from your
own copy of the game.

Vibe-coded with Claude. Written by Claude (Anthropic, Claude Opus 5.5 via Claude Code) under the
direction of the repository owner. Tested on one PC only.

  • Boots through the intro to the title screen and main menu
  • Full game unlocked by default (--license_mask=0 restores the trial)
  • PLAY and saving work in limited testing; online features don't (services are offline)

No prebuilt binaries

The executable is the game's own code, recompiled, so it can't be distributed. Build it from your own

  2. Extract the ReXGlue SDK 0.10.0.24-dev into third_party\rexglue-sdk\.
  3. Extract your own package dump: .\tools\extract-package.ps1 -Package <file>
  4. .\build.ps1 and run out\build\win-amd64-relwithdebinfo\burnoutcrash.exe
