🐞 Handle PIP Windows in “Move Window Under Cursor”

Feature Request Description

Despite having used Loop for years, I recently began using the “Move Window Under Cursor” feature, which I had not noticed before but had always wanted. The functionality generally works well; however, it encounters issues when a Picture-in-Picture video window is active (Eg: Safari, IINA). Although these PIP windows are detected by Loop they do not respond when invoking the trigger key and moving the cursor.

Would it be possible to modify Loop's behavior to either ignore PIP video windows altogether or, alternatively, implement support to move these types of floating video windows effectively? I think it would enhance usability when PIP videos are present.

Thanks for reporting this! This seems more like a bug, and this case should definitely be fixed. I’m still not sure if I’ll end up making PIP windows ignored by Loop (depending on whether it works reliably), but either way, will get this fixed :)

It’s good to know this will be addressed :) I suspected it might be a bug, though I wasn’t entirely sure, since I don’t know of any other window manager that can reliably interact with this type of window. These PIP windows seem to be magnetically anchored to the display corners rather than positioned relative to the screen center. At the same time, Loop’s quarter moves appear to calculate from the center point instead of the corners. I’m not certain if that’s directly related, but it could explain why the window refuses to move.

I tried experimenting and also noticed some odd interactions when running Loop alongside it, so I changed things so that PIP windows are now ignored. This only applies to apps using the system PIP API (like Safari and IINA). Some other browsers such as Arc seem use non-standard PIP windows that unfortunately can’t be distinguished from regular windows, so those may still behave incorrectly.

@mrkai77 I tested the build and it now behaves exactly as I originally expected. PIP windows are correctly ignored, focus reliably stays on the most recently moved window, and interaction with windows underneath PIP videos is smooth and consistent. That resolves the issue I was facing. I'm aware that some apps like Firefox, Arc, and others rely on alternative PIP window behaviors, but since I don’t use those, luckily this doesn’t affect my workflow.

Overall, the change delivers the intended experience and feels solid :) !
