Campers Community

Problem Statement and Overview

The problem that this website addresses has to do with the inability for a community to form around the recommending, locating, and selecting of campsites in a particular state or region. Depending on the type of campsite, you may need to visit one of several different booking websites, which fragments community formation.

My intent is to provide a better user experience through the development of a website that is focued first on fostering a community of avid campers by connecting them with each other as well as with key contacts at campgrounds, providing a way for them to provide reviews and recommendations of campgrounds and sites to each other regardless of how that site may be booked, and linking users to the appropriate site when they're ready to book.

Potential Domain Objects

1. Reviews made by people who have camped at a particular campground or campsite
2. Discussion threads/board
   • Tied to a specific location
   • General threads about gear, recommendations for a region, etc.
3. Favorited locations
   • Visible on a user's provile
   • Visible on location of how many times it's been favorited
4. Wish-listed locations
   • Visible on a user's provile
   • Visible on location of how many times it's been added to a wish list
5. Shared photos of campground/campsite
   • Can be shared just on a user's profile
   • Can be shared on the campground/campsite page

Potential Users

1. Campers - Registered users wanting to be part of the community
2. Location Managers - A registered user such as the forest service or other manager of a site
3. Anonymous - Someone who hasn't set up an account, but would like to read the reviews or search for a campsite
4. Admin - Manage the registered users and all content uploaded or contributed by registered users

   2. Claim a campground as the administrator/contact
   3. Update campground information

3. Anonymous - Someone who hasn't set up an account, but would like to read the reviews or search for a campsite
