MD Viewer — Linux (Debian/Ubuntu), v0.2.6

First packaged release for Debian/Ubuntu (amd64).

This is the same MD Viewer project as the Windows release, built from the
0.2.6 codebase snapshot — it predates the Windows 0.3.0 layout and
performance fixes (see [CHANGELOG.md](CHANGELOG.md)), so those aren't in this
build yet. Windows and Linux are versioned independently for now; they'll
likely sync up in a future release.

Install

sudo apt install ./MD-Viewer_0.2.6_amd64.deb

Using apt install ./file.deb (not dpkg -i) lets apt resolve dependencies
automatically. If you already tried dpkg -i and hit a dependency error, run
sudo apt --fix-broken install afterward.

What's included

• Installs to /usr/bin/md-viewer
• Desktop entry + hicolor icons (32×32, 128×128, 256×256) — shows up in your
  app menu as MD Viewer
• Registers text/markdown / text/x-markdown so .md/.markdown files can
  be opened with it from your file manager
• Depends on libwebkit2gtk-4.1-0 and libgtk-3-0 (apt installs these
  automatically if missing)

Known limitations

• Built from an earlier snapshot than the current Windows release — see the
  "Linux 0.2.6" note in CHANGELOG.md for what that means in practice
• Tested on Debian/Ubuntu amd64 only; other distros will need to build from
  source (see README.md)

Download the .exe below, run it, done. It installs for your user account only — no admin prompt — and registers .md and .markdown file associations automatically.

To make it the default .md app: right-click any .md file → Open with → Choose another app → pick MD Viewer → tick "Always use this app".

SmartScreen warning? The installer isn't code-signed (a certificate costs a few hundred dollars a year). Click More info → Run anyway. Or build it yourself from source — instructions are in the README.

What's in 0.3.0

A correctness and performance release. Nothing about how the app looks or which keys do what has changed; almost everything about how it behaves under load has.

• Fixed a layout bug where a single long code line or a wide table could silently widen the whole window — slicing prose mid-word against the right edge, and shoving the find bar off-screen when you pressed <kbd>Ctrl</kbd>+<kbd>F</kbd>.
• Event-driven file watching replaces the old 1.8 s polling loop, so there are zero CPU wakeups while a document just sits there being read.
