Problem or use case

Since NetBird already establishes secure WireGuard connectivity and identity-aware access controls, VNC feels like a natural extension of the platform.

Benefits could include:

• Single-pane remote administration
• Reduced dependency on third-party remote support tools
• Improved support workflows for mixed OS environments
• Simplified access to homelab, MSP, education, and SMB environments
• Browser-based support sessions without additional VPN clients

Proposed solution

Allow administrators/support staff to launch VNC sessions directly from the NetBird management interface to devices connected to the mesh network.

This could potentially support:

• Linux desktop systems
• Raspberry Pi and embedded devices
• macOS systems using VNC/screen sharing
• Headless systems requiring GUI access
• Lightweight remote support use cases
• Remote support/view support to end users

Alternatives or workarounds considered

Currently use Termix on a dedicated peer that i have routed through to other peers to allow VNC remote view support

Community impact and priority

I think this would be a very valuable feature and could open more support opportunities for home labbers and small businesses
