[Feature request] Save rotation to file

Hello and thanks for FlowVision!

One feature that I've used in other similar apps is the ability to rotate my photos. In FlowVision, I can do it, but this doesn't save to the file. Would it be possible to add this possibility?

For example, keeping the actual rotating button to a view only, but saving with ⌘+s. Also, it would be nice to have a shortcut to rotate.

Currently the app does not have editing function(maybe later). It‘s better to edit pictures in some professional softwares like pixelamator.

There are two ways to rotate an image: one is to modify the EXIF information, and the other is to actually rearrange the pixels. The former is more common in the rotation of camera photos, but it may not have good compatibility with all image formats. The latter, due to the need to choose a compression rate and re-encode, can cause perceptual differences in the image, which may not be suitable for implementation by lightweight image viewers. If there are any problem with my understanding, please feel free to correct me!

I suggested this because it's something that I've done with apps like XnView on Windows, as it's quite useful to be able to quickly rotate a photo while viewing it. But I understand that this is not the main focus of FlowVision, and I couldn't answer what would be the best in this case.

I think an alternative would be a quick way to open a file from FlowVision into an editor software. From what I tried today, here is a workflow I found:

• navigate through images in fullscreen in FlowVision
• once an image to rotate has been found, press the button to get back to the folder view
• right click on the image, open with -> Preview
• cmd+r or cmd+l within Preview
• cmd+s to save, cmd+q to quit and get back to FlowVision

This could work. But it would be way better to have a way to open an image while viewing it fullscreen (like a shortcut).
There could also be an issue, for example if the default program to open a JPG is Photoshop or Pixelmator. It would take much more time than, say, Preview. So it would be nice to have this shortcut program configurable in FlowVision.

I understand that's not a quick feature, but I think people would benefit from a way to access photo editing easily from FlowVision, as it's the fastest image viewer on macOS!

I guess, it must have good compatibility with all formats supporting EXIF? It does not seem like a format issue, it's rather viewers must rotate the image when displaying based on the EXIF data.

Editing metadata is not really image editing and feels quite safe.
On formats with EXIF, you can ask a Yes/No dialog to save rotation when navigating away from the image. If there's no EXIF, only rotate on the fly, but nothing to save.
