GSoC 2026: Builder Plugin Proposal + Prototype Feedback

Hi, I’m planning to apply for GSoC 2026 with the builder plugin idea.

I have implemented a prototype to explore the concept and understand the problem space better.

Prototype Features

• CLI-based builder system
• Modular target architecture (zip, deb)
• Config-driven execution using neutralino.config.json
• Basic support for architecture flags

My Approach

I’m planning to implement the solution as a plugin for the neu CLI, keeping it lightweight and modular.
Each installer type will be implemented as a separate module and dynamically loaded.

Questions

• Does this architecture align with the expected design for the builder plugin?
• Should the plugin directly integrate with neu CLI commands or remain independent initially?
• Are there any recommended packaging tools/libraries for each platform?

I would really appreciate any feedback or suggestions before finalizing my proposal.
