Prompts
Value Proposition Initialize enterprise automation workflows with a comprehensive library of context-aware prompts. Streamline database operations. Empower your AI agents to execute complex tasks reliably at scale. Read the full value proposition
The server provides a comprehensive library of context-aware prompts. These prompts initialize complex tasks and streamline autonomous workflows, minimizing boilerplate code. Query the server via the MCP protocol for the current list of prompts. Note that the mysql_tool_index prompt lists only available tools. It does not list resources or prompts.
-
Core Workflows: Essential automation (e.g.,
mysql_query_builder,mysql_schema_design,mysql_quick_query,mysql_quick_schema). -
Health & Ops: Proactive diagnostics (e.g.,
mysql_database_health_check,mysql_sys_schema_guide,mysql_mcp_heal,mysql_performance_analysis). -
Migrations: Database migrations (e.g.,
mysql_migration). -
Setup Guides: Expert configurations (e.g.,
mysql_setup_replication,mysql_setup_proxysql).
In Claude Desktop or Cursor, you can invoke prompts directly:
Use the mysql_schema_design prompt to design a users table
→ Invokes schema design workflow
Run the mysql_database_health_check prompt
→ Starts comprehensive health assessment
Help me setup replication
→ Uses mysql_setup_replication prompt
Comprehensive health assessment workflow:
- Check connection health
- Assess performance metrics
- Review storage and table health
- Check replication status
- Generate recommendations
Enterprise backup planning:
- RPO/RTO requirements analysis
- Choosing backup method (mysqldump, MySQL Shell, XtraBackup)
- Point-in-time recovery setup
- Testing procedures
Index optimization workflow:
- Identify unused indexes
- Find missing indexes for slow queries
- Detect duplicate indexes
- EXPLAIN analysis for optimization
Diagnostics using the MySQL sysschema:
- Analyze I/O usage
- Find most expensive statements
- Check for full table scans
- Investigate excessive locking
The setup prompts provide step-by-step guides for advanced MySQL features. Examples include, but are not limited to:
-
Router (
mysql_setup_router): Configure MySQL Router REST API endpoints and integrate with InnoDB Cluster. -
ProxySQL (
mysql_setup_proxysql): Deploy query routing rules, digest stats, and connection pooling. -
Replication (
mysql_setup_replication): Initialize source/replica architectures, measure lag, and handle failover. -
Shell (
mysql_setup_shell): Leverage MySQL Shell utilities for robust schema dumps and parallel imports. -
Cluster (
mysql_setup_cluster): InnoDB Cluster and Group Replication setup -
Spatial (
mysql_setup_spatial): Enabling GIS features and creating spatial indexes -
DocStore (
mysql_setup_docstore): Using MySQL as a NoSQL document store -
Events (
mysql_setup_events): Configuring the Event Scheduler
Each guide includes prerequisites, installation steps, configuration commands, and verification tools.
