Unable to compose mail

I'm trying to write an email, when I click on "new message" nothing happens.

Expected behavior

I expect some form of editor form where i can write email.

Actual behavior

nothing happens at all, and I can't see anything in the server logs either.

Mail app

1.9.3

Mailserver or service: (e.g. Outlook, Yahoo, Gmail, Exchange,...)
cyrus imap 2.4.19 on openSUSE 15.2

Server configuration

Operating system: openSUSE 15.2

i opened the console, cleaned the contents, and clicked "new message" - all i got is:

"jQuery is deprecated: The global jQuery is deprecated. It will be updated to v3.x in Nextcloud 21. In later versions of Nextcloud it might be removed completely. Please ship your own."

when i click on "reply" on a received mail I get some more:
