PHOTO Feature Request: Data Compression for Server Storage Optimization

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
Users who primarily view images online rather than print them in high quality often face storage limitations due to the size of uncompressed files. This can hinder their ability to store a larger number of files on the server.

Describe the solution you'd like
Introduce a feature in Nextcloud that allows users to compress their images directly on the server. This functionality would:

  1. Enable users to reduce the file size of images while maintaining adequate quality for online viewing.
  2. Provide options for compression levels, depending on user needs (e.g., high, medium, low quality).
  3. Allow users to batch compress existing files or apply compression settings during uploads.
  4. Clearly display the space saved after compression, helping users manage their storage more effectively.

Describe alternatives you've considered

  1. Using third-party tools to compress images before uploading, which is less convenient and time-consuming.
  2. Utilizing external plugins, but these often lack integration or official support, leading to potential compatibility issues.

Additional context
This feature would be similar to the image handling and compression functionality offered by platforms like Google Drive, which compress images for online viewing while maintaining user-friendly workflows. Providing this option natively within Nextcloud would enhance its appeal to users with storage constraints, especially those in environments with limited storage budgets.
