Description

@Dazezh

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open Nextcloud Talk Android app
  2. Open any conversation with unread messages
  3. Close the chat or fully close the application (swipe from recent apps)
  4. Send a new message to this conversation from another client (web or another device)
  5. Observe message status without reopening the chat on Android device

Expected behaviour

Messages should remain unread until the user explicitly opens the chat on the Android device

Actual behaviour

Messages are automatically marked as read even though the app or chat is closed and the user has not viewed them

Additional information

Honestly, this feels a bit creepy. From the sender’s perspective it looks like I’ve read the message when I actually didn’t, which is just… unsettling. I didn’t find a place for this in the form, but I’m using the Docker image ghcr.io/nextcloud-releases/aio-talk (version 2.1.0~docker) as TURN, STUN, and signaling server.
