Summary

  • Add DOCKER_API_VERSION=1.43 to remoteEnv in both codespaces-dev and local-dev devcontainer configs
  • Fixes error: docker: Error response from daemon: client version 1.52 is too new. Maximum supported API version is 1.43

This ensures the Docker client inside devcontainers uses an API version compatible with the host daemon when using the docker-outside-of-docker feature.

Test plan

  • Rebuild devcontainer with codespaces-dev config
  • Run docker ps to verify no API version errors
  • Test running a Nextflow pipeline with Docker executor

I still get the error

training -> docker ps
Error response from daemon: client version 1.52 is too new. Maximum supported API version is 1.43

Can confirm that I have this in the devcontainer.json
