An example project using Dropwizard to serve a Backbone application
Build a simple clone of futureme.com, a website that lets a user submit an email to be sent at a later date.
This project will run through the creation and development of a Dropwizard based server. The front-end code will be a rich client written in javascript with the Backbone framework. It might use the Marionette framework too, I haven’t gotten that far yet.
This will serve as an example application for those looking to build a “modern” web app using Dropwizard. If you follow along, you should know how to do the following:
- Basic setup of maven for Dropwizard
- How dropwizard deals with routing URLs
- Serving HTML pages that are styled with Freemarker templates
- Serving javascript with the dropwizard-assets plugin
- use the Dropwizard lifecycle management system to keep an object around for the life of the application
