This is an early preview of Wit. Give it a spin and let me know what you think in the Discussions tab.

A few important notes:

  • This is not a replacement for Obsidian and complex text editing cases. It's for simple writing. Great if you want to finally write that novel or do daily journaling.
  • That does mean that this isn't intended for code editing, either. Sorry.
  • Currently, Wit requires you to open a folder as "a project" to get to work. You can't open individual files (yet). This is something I will address in the future, but in order to give you the best experience with snapshots, this is a limitation.
  • I will not make it possible to open files in multiple tabs; having a single document you're working in is, in fact, a feature.

If you encounter any bugs or issues, please let me know. Wit will automatically create snapshots of your work in .wit/snapshots.

Supported operating systems

Linux: The app is available for Linux as an AppImage executable.
Mac: The app is available for macOS, only for M-series devices (arm64).

I've made sure that the Mac app is signed and notarized.
