Add a setting to hide the recently added settings button

[Mishasama]

As far as I'm concerned, there are already plenty of ways to access BTTV's settings, so this button seems completely pointless; it's just wasting what's already limited screen space.

We added this to increase visibility of extension features and updates. Without it, people think BetterTTV only has emotes but it actually has more.

Look guys, I appreciate new features and a way to communicate them, I really do. I can also understand you want to push your Pro features. If you've spent the time and effort to implement them, they shouldn't go unnoticed.

But the fact is, BetterTTV has been working great for me for years and I will simply not use any of the fancy cosmetics or automation. It's not how I use twitch or BetterTTV and no amount of promotion is going to change that.

Making the red dot disappear on clicking the icon is a step in the right direction, but I would really appreciate if there was an option to suppress the dot (or the entire BetterTTV icon). Like I said, it might be great for others, but it isn't gonna change how I use the extension.

Thanks for the constructive feedback. There is always a fine line between settings and visibility friction down the road. We could offer the ability to hide it, however we may lose the ability to inform on new functions we've added if too many people disable the setting. We really want to make sure we're informing folks while keeping the UI tasteful. We hate ads too, and will continue to polish the experience so it is visible but not annoying.

Hearing the updates are not useful to you is something worth digging in on. What would change how you use the extension? What would you like to see from BetterTTV?

Honestly, hard to say. I don't feel like the current Twitch / BetterTTV experience is lacking much.
If there's something I could ask for, it would be more detailed options to hide e.g. watch streaks, hype trains, top gifters, or maybe even drops without hiding pinned messages.
Also, I'd like to be able to adjust hover text duration (to 0), so that channel description hover texts don't block player controls after accidentally hovering over a channel in the "For You"-bar.
Sometimes I'm annoyed I can't just middle click streamer names in the streaming together list to open their POV in a new tab, I need to click on their name and then middle click on the name in the popup. I'd like to be able to skip that, so disable the popup entirely and treat the name like a simple link.
But, as you can see, these are details that might improve QoL but aren't really new features. The only feature I could think of would be popping out the "For You"-bar in the same way the chat can be popped out.

Ironically, my initial motivation for using BTTV wasn’t the emotes at all, but rather its other additional features. Personally, I didn’t overlook this feature simply because the settings entry point wasn’t very prominent at the time; I could even list all the ways to access the settings screen on BTTV. (So, for me, that feature is truly superfluous and a nuisance—if you need any UX advice, do let me know.)
