What's new

  • See estimated context usage as a percentage in the Request info button tooltip. The estimate reflects the latest prepared provider call, not cumulative session usage.

  • Open Session history directly above its button on desktop.
  • Find Save and Cancel at both the top and bottom of the provider editor.
  • Confirm the named provider or external MCP server before removing it.
  • Enjoy a wider chat workspace with smaller, consistent side margins on desktop and mobile.
  • Improved layout and text alignment in Session history and Diagnostic logging settings.

@NikChallenger NikChallenger released this 16 Sep 20:57

CoDriver 0.5.0

CoDriver 0.5.0 is the first public binary release of the Obsidian plugin.

Highlights

  • Chat with OpenAI-compatible, Gemini, and native Anthropic providers from the Obsidian right sidebar.
  • Search, read, create, append, patch, move, and trash vault files through visible CoDriver Vault tool calls.
  • Review note changes before applying them, with stale-state protection and safe rollback support.
  • Attach supported documents, images, and audio, and use a separately selected transcription provider for audio workflows.
  • Use local skills, commands, external MCP servers, model search, local sessions, and path-only active-note context.

Safety and privacy

  • Vault mutations require per-call approval unless automatic execution is enabled for that exact tool.
  • Active-note content and frontmatter are never injected automatically.
  • Provider API keys remain in Obsidian secret storage.
  • Attachment contents, transcripts, tool results, and recent tool memory are request-scoped rather than stored in session history.
  • Diagnostics exclude note bodies, prompts, provider responses, tool data, transcripts, API keys, and secrets.

Installation

Download main.js, manifest.json, and styles.css from the Assets section below. Copy all three files into .obsidian/plugins/codriver/ in your vault, reload Obsidian, and enable CoDriver under Community plugins.

Obsidian 1.5.0 or newer is required. Test the plugin in a non-critical vault first and keep regular backups of important notes.
