Codex Desktop Pet window flickers except on the workspace where Codex was started #2133

Description

Codex Desktop has a small "Pet" overlay window. When running AeroSpace, this Pet flickers on every AeroSpace workspace except the workspace where Codex Desktop was started.

This does not seem to depend on which workspace currently contains the main Codex app window. The important detail appears to be the workspace that was active when Codex, or the Pet window, was first detected by AeroSpace.

The Pet appears to be detected by AeroSpace as a managed dialog/floating window, but it also behaves like an always-on-top utility overlay. This seems to create a tug-of-war where AeroSpace treats it as belonging to one workspace while Codex/macOS keeps showing it across workspaces.

Reproduction

Switch to workspace A.
Start Codex Desktop.
Make sure the Codex Pet window is visible.
Switch to workspace B.
Observe the Codex Pet flickering on workspace B.
Switch back to workspace A.
Observe that the flicker stops.

Expected behavior

The Codex Pet should either:

be ignored/unmanaged by AeroSpace, similar to a popup/overlay, or
remain stable without flickering when switching workspaces.

Actual behavior

The Codex Pet flickers on workspaces other than the workspace where Codex Desktop was started. The flicker stops when returning to the startup workspace.

What I tried

I had an on-window-detected rule for com.openai.codex. I commented it out, reloaded AeroSpace config, and restarted Codex Desktop. The flicker still happened.

After that, aerospace debug-windows showed empty Aero.on-window-detected for both the main Codex window and the Pet, so this does not appear to be caused by my config rule.

Relevant `debug-windows` observations

Both windows share:

Aero.App.appBundleId = com.openai.codex

Main Codex window:

Aero.AxUiElementWindowType = window
Aero.windowLevel = normalWindow

Why I think this is an AeroSpace handling issue

The Pet seems closer to an overlay/popup than to a normal managed dialog. Since AeroSpace currently classifies it as a dialog, it is likely attached to the active workspace when first detected. When switching away from that workspace, AeroSpace appears to treat it like an inactive workspace window, while Codex/macOS keeps presenting it as always-on-top, causing flicker.

Possible fix

A small app-specific heuristic may be enough:

add com.openai.codex as a known bundle id
classify the Pet as popup/unmanaged when it matches something like:
- bundle id com.openai.codex
- windowLevel == alwaysOnTopWindow
- AXMain == false

This would match AeroSpace's existing approach for app-specific non-standard windows.

classify the Pet as popup/unmanaged when it matches something like:

windowLevel == alwaysOnTopWindow

Please submit a PR or the full debug-windows output for both window (normal window and the pet window). You need those dumps to make the PR anyway for tests
