Installation and Quick Start

Requirements

• BeamNG.drive 0.38.6.
• A Free Roam map with a usable road graph.
• At least one active player vehicle.
• The ability to add UI Apps to the current UI layout.

Install the packaged mod

1. Download taxidriver.zip from the 3.0.0 Beta prerelease, or use the latest stable release.

2. Copy it to:

   %LOCALAPPDATA%\BeamNG\BeamNG.drive\current\mods\taxidriver.zip
   

3. Start BeamNG.drive and verify that TaxiDriver Reloaded is enabled in Mod Manager.

4. Enter a Free Roam session.

5. Open the UI Apps editor and add TaxiDriverHUD.

6. Position and resize the phone.

7. Press Start Shift.

Do not keep packed and unpacked copies active at the same time. Duplicate GE extensions and UI files can produce inconsistent loading behavior.

First shift

1. On the home screen, optionally enable Realistic Mode.
2. Press Start Shift to go online.
3. Wait while the dispatcher fills the 10–12 request slots. Generation is intentionally incremental, so complex maps can take longer.
4. Compare pickup time, distance, duration, fare, passenger mood or cargo weight, rating bonus, and special order type.
5. Accept a request and follow the highlighted route.
6. Stop within approximately 14 metres of the target and below 4 km/h.
7. Complete boarding, scheduled stops, and drop-off.

UI placement

The default UI App definition uses a phone-shaped area around 380 × 736 pixels with a minimum size of 330 × 616. Larger layouts improve readability. Use the built-in text-size slider for additional scaling without resizing the phone.

The Minimize button switches to a separate 340-pixel-high dashboard rather than scaling the phone. It retains the native rectangular map, ETA, distance, route progress, payout, balance, rating, and order-specific statistics. Use Open phone to return to the complete interface.

The compact dashboard is a separate layout rather than a scaled or clipped copy of the phone. A queued-offer indicator remains available while minimized.

Experimental connected phone

The Connected phone category can display the same live app on another device through a QR code. This feature is experimental, starts disabled every session, requires free TCP port 8085, and requires network permission for BeamNG.drive. See External Web UI before enabling it.

Updating

Replace the old taxidriver.zip with the new archive. Do not rename the internal folders or add an extra top-level directory.

Persistent data is stored under current/settings/TaxiDriver, outside the mod archive, and survives updates. See Driver Profile and Persistence.

Uninstalling

1. Go offline before leaving the current session if possible.
2. Remove taxidriver.zip from current/mods.
3. Optionally remove current/settings/TaxiDriver to delete settings, profile, wallet, rating, reviews, and history.

Removing the settings directory is irreversible unless it has been backed up.
