New: canopy square footage
Three South Florida municipalities size tree mitigation by canopy area, and West Palm Beach no longer considers DBH at all. CanopyCode now imports canopy measurements and does that maths for you.
- Import a canopy measurement from your survey and get a Canopy S.F. column in the tree table, with its own subtotal. There are two separate mapping choices, "Canopy Radius (trunk to edge)" and "Canopy Spread (full width)", because the same number means different things to different surveyors and reading one as the other is four times wrong in either direction. The mapping screen tells you in plain words how your column will be read before anything is imported
- A second column, Adj. Canopy S.F., applies a per-group multiplier so you can show the mitigation actually owed beside the raw area. Each classification group carries its own multiplier and its own "Apply to" setting, so it can be pointed at removed trees, saved trees, or both
- Ten new site info lines for canopy and units totals, each independently switchable, in CC_CONFIGURE
- Canopy measurements can be edited per tree in CC_EDIT_TREE_DATA, so one bad survey value can be corrected without re-importing the whole file
- Table headers now say what they are counting. Where a column applies to only some trees, the header reads "Adj. Canopy S.F. (Saved, x3)" instead of leaving you to work it out. It stays silent when no single description would be true of every row
Bug Fixes
- Fixed loading a preset silently discarding your saved table column settings. Any header text you had renamed, any column you had hidden, and every per-column Total tick were replaced by the stock defaults the moment a preset was loaded. Your preset file was correct the whole time, so nothing was lost on disk, but the settings never reached the table. This affects every version up to and including 1.0.14
- Fixed Restore Defaults and Load Preset both ignoring the "Show units for trees with no status set" switch, leaving units hidden on existing trees with no way to bring them back except re-ticking the box by hand
- Fixed the total row appearing to label the wrong numbers. Canopy totals now carry SF so a trailing UNITS label can only ever refer to the units column
- Fixed the site info reporting "Units Preserved: 0.00" for trees that had simply never been measured, which read as a real zero
- Fixed a message that told you settings were saved to a file alongside your drawing. No such file has been written since Phase 6.72; settings live in the drawing itself
Also in this release
- Every column that can be totalled now has its own Total tick in CC_CONFIGURE, so Units and Adj. Units each carry their own subtotal instead of one figure landing in whichever column happened to be visible
- INVASIVE is now its own label category, separate from DDH. A healthy but invasive tree used to carry the same tag as a dead one
- The switch that hides units now reads "Show units for trees with no status set", which is what it has always actually done
AutoCAD 2024 users get everything above. This release was tested in AutoCAD 2024 and Civil 3D 2026.
