Introduction

People nowadays love to watch movie. However, ordinary people may not have enough information about the casts or directors’ style to make an informed choice. Movie scales provided by many websites such as IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes are available, but they cannot be sure which one of them best represents their watching style.

We aim to solve this problem by developing an android application where users can view most movie ratings from various movie websites. By providing their own ratings (user input), we will analyse the similarity between users’ input and existing ratings to create an individualised rating reference. Every existing ratings will be assigned a weight based on user input and any new movie’s potential ratings will be calculated using this weight, thereby recommending the user which is the best high rating movie according to their watching style.
