Add a date-time text zone

Could you add a componant "Date - time" with possibilities for choosing format M/D/YY or else ?

Présentations needs this type of informations.

Thanks Jef — most of this already exists, and the part that doesn't is worth an issue.

What's there today (since 0.9.12): type {{date}} or {{time}} into any text box and it resolves when the slide is shown. There's also {{page}}, {{pages}}, {{title}}, and the document properties {{author}}, {{company}}, {{subject}}, {{event}} from the About dialog. The starter deck uses {{page:2}} for its page numbers, so you can see it in action on a fresh deck. While you're editing the box you see the token; everywhere else you see the value.

What isn't there: a format choice. The date follows the viewer's locale — someone in the US sees M/D/YY, someone in France sees DD/MM/YYYY — which is deliberate for a deck that might be shown to different audiences, but it means you can't pin a format. That's a real gap for the case you describe. If you open an issue for {{date:…}} with a pattern (or a small set of presets), it has a clear place to go; the page-number token already takes an argument ({{page:2}} zero-pads), so the syntax exists.

This is in now. The Text panel has a Field row: pick a date in the shape you want and it drops the token into the text, for example {{date:M/D/YY}}, {{date:D MMMM YYYY}}, {{date:DD/MM/YYYY}} or {{date:YYYY-MM-DD}}. The shape is pinned, so every viewer sees M/D/YY if that is what you chose; month names still come in the viewer's language. Time works the same way: {{time:HH:mm}} or {{time:h:mm a}}. A plain {{date}} keeps following the viewer's locale, as before. The picker also offers the page number, page count, title, author, company, subject and event. It is on main for the next release; it is not in a download yet. Once it ships I will close this.
