A Fabric mod for Minecraft 1.20.1
Weapons get better at killing what you kill most. Use a sword on undead long enough and it starts doing more damage to them. No menus, no skill points, nothing to manage (IN SHORT: you won't be disturbed). It just happens while you play normaly.
Every sword, axe, and trident tracks kills by mob type. Once you hit certain kill counts, the weapon gets stronger against that mob type only. A sword that killed hundreds of zombies hits harder against undead, but its no different from a fresh weapon when you're fighting a creeper.
The tiers are:
- Initiate (25 kills) -> +8% damage
- Hunter (75 kills) -> +15% damage
- Slayer (150 kills) -> +25% damage
- Nemesis (300 kills) -> +40% damage
When you tier up you'll see a message and popup in chat. When you hit Nemesis, you'll know.
- Undead: zombies, skeletons, phantoms, drowned, husks, strays, wither skeletons, zombie villagers
- Arthropod: spiders, cave spiders, silverfish, endermites, bees
- Illager: pillagers, vindicators, evokers, ravagers, witches, illusioners
- Nether: blazes, ghasts, piglins, hoglins, magma cubes, striders
- End: endermen, endermites, shulkers
- Beast: wolves, foxes, goats, llamas (hostile)
- Aquatic: guardians, elder guardians, drowned, squid, glow squid
- Creeper: creepers
/he categories outputs the same.
/he inspect -> shows your held weapon's kill breakdown and current tiers
/he top -> quick look at the top 3 categories on your held weapon
/he categories -> lists all categories and what mobs are in each one
/he help -> shows all commands
/he reset -> resets a weapon's profile, OP only
/he stats [player] -> shows kill stats across all weapons in a player's inventory, OP only
Weapon data is saved to the item itself so it carries over between sessions and works in multiplayer. If you combine a tracked weapon in a crafting table, the profile gets wiped and you'll get a warning before it hapens.
At Slayer tier and above, weapons without enchantments get an enchantment glint or "look" on them so you can tell something is different.
The config file is created automatically at config/hunters_edge.json when you first launch. You can change kill thresholds, damage multiplers, and which items get tracked from there. But you should definitely try it with the default config!
