How I plan to use Odysseus

Cursor as my IDE, Grok as my Heavy Lifting Designer, Odysseus as my project planner and research assistant. It fits so perfectly in the Cursor browser alongside grok in the Shell that it is almost like they were made for one another :D

I'm trying it out right now to help me make improvements to my Raspberry Pi Home Automation server... so the computer is helping the computer build the computer to build the smaller computer :D

i wish i knew how to use all those tools like that. Im struggling to think of use cases for projects other than useless time wasters for fun. Maybe ill strike gold eventually but for now I'm stuck trying to use these amazing tools for what i need it for

For me the "aha" moment was when I realised I could connect multiple LLM agents to the same Git / GitHub repo, and have them all collaborate. Once you think of a Git Repo as a normal thing in your life; files go in, changes get committed, commits get pushed... yada yada yada. Once that Git process becomes part of your normal everyday workflow (and this can happen with or without LLM help) then suddenly the true value of these agentic AI tools becomes obvious.

Once you make all your work repo-centric, github-centric and make git commit messages and pushes to github part of your normal workflow, everything falls into place. By the way, repos aren't just somewhere to store source code for computer programs any more. Everything and anything you do, whether it's creative writing, art and design, managing events, whatever it is, all of it can be tracked in a GitHub Repo (and it should be, if you ever want to use AI to help you do your work). There's other kinds of repo of course, but Git and GitHub is the one everyone has basically settled on, so I would use that if I were you. Try putting a simple Github project together for one big thing you want to achieve and that you want help from AI on. Git and GitHub are both free-to-use.

Then, with an IDE that connects to your GitHub repo like Cursor or VS Code, you can enter a few commands then sit and watch as the AI agents make changes to your project files. You can roll them back if you don't like the changes, or preview what the bot is working on in real time. If its going in the wrong direction, you can stop it and give it better instructions.

The next step after that is gaining the confidence to allow the LLMs to work on your repo when you aren't there or aren't looking, that's when the true dream of agentic assistance becomes real. Odysseus is designed almost as a training program, both for you and for your LLM agents, to get you both to the point where you feel comfortable and safe to leave the agents to go do their thing on their own.

For now I'm not confident enough to let it work on something important, this tool only just came out and the models are being refined every day, so I'm limiting myself to little "fun" projects like making a Home Automation server to turn my lights and TV on and off for me, based on "intelligence" about whether or not I am in the room, or coding up some silly game-jam style games, but I'm using the experience of building those silly little projects which don't matter if the agents totally screw up, to teach me how to use agents effectively for when I need them for something important.
