Support custom workspace status command for non-git VCS

I use herdr with workspaces that are not always git repos.

For workspace list, I don’t really need full VCS integration.

Could herdr support a custom command that is executed in workspace cwd and used as workspace status?

Custom status command.
Example:

workspace_status_command = "jj status --no-pager --summary"
# or
workspace_status_command = "arc status --short"

why you want this

This would make it possible to support jj, hg, svn, arc, p4, etc. without adding native support for each VCS.

I saw the plugins in the latest release, but you can’t do what I asked about there — display the branch name for the workspace/agent.
The closest thing I found is to create a new pane that will show this.

Will there be any more changes to the plugins with new capabilities?

Since plugins might not support this in the early versions, I'll share this.

I had my AI hack together jj workspace support into herdr. It's not super pretty, and not at all upstreamable (I just fully replaced git worktree support since it made it much easier to implement and I don't really use git without jj anymore).

I've been loving herdr (thanks ogulcancelik!), so I will probably keep this up to date (ish) until the plugins get advanced enough to support it. Can't promise how fast it will track master though.

I've been using it pretty heavily for a ~week now and it seems fine, but ymmv.
