This work began with the intention of implementing a better user x volume management system. Some progress has been made on that, but there is still more to do. Moreover, I ended up doing some significant front-end refactors to unify components across the different pages.
Also, the place hierarchy search has been greatly improved, which allows users to browse by traversing the place scaffolding that is loaded within the app.
Overall, it's time to merge this work into main, as this branch has been used in production for a little while anyway.
