Scratch Studio 1.0.3

A small release that makes Scratch Studio citable by DOI in the Methods text it writes for you.

Install

  1. Download Scratch-Studio-1.0.3.dmg below.
  2. Open it and drag Scratch Studio into Applications.
  3. Launch from Applications.

Developer-ID signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens with no security prompt. Requires an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 11 (Big Sur) or later.

Changed in 1.0.3

  • The Methods export now cites Scratch Studio by its DOI. The References entry reads "Guloglu MO. Scratch Studio [software]. Version 1.0.3. Zenodo. doi:10.5281/zenodo.23751319" instead of a plain web link, in the .txt, Markdown and Word (.docx) exports. The DOI always resolves to the latest release, and the version number records exactly which one you used.

No analysis or statistics behaviour has changed since 1.0.2.

See How to cite in the README.

Scratch Studio 1.0.2

A small maintenance release that restores Word export of the Methods section and corrects how the app describes the file formats it imports.

Install

  1. Download Scratch-Studio-1.0.2.dmg below.
  2. Open it and drag Scratch Studio into Applications.
  3. Launch from Applications.

Developer-ID signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens with no security prompt. Requires an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 11 (Big Sur) or later.

Fixed in 1.0.2

  • Methods export to Word (.docx) works again. In 1.0.1 the .docx option in the Methods export dialog was greyed out because a required component was missing from the build. It is now included, and the build checks it so this cannot regress. Plain text and Markdown export were not affected.
  • Accurate import formats. The app no longer offers Zeiss CZI, Nikon ND2 or Leica LIF import, which this version does not support. Export those files to TIFF or OME-TIFF first; the in-app Help (Importing Images) now walks through doing this in ZEN, NIS-Elements, LAS X or Fiji. OME-TIFF and Fiji-saved TIFFs keep their pixel size, which Scratch Studio reads on import.
  • Multi-page TIFFs, clarified. Only the first page of a multi-page TIFF is used, so save a time-lapse series as one file per timepoint. The tour and Help previously said otherwise.

No analysis or statistics behaviour has changed since 1.0.1.

Scratch Studio 1.0.1

A maintenance release that hardens the statistics engine and fixes calibration input. If you are on 1.0, this update is recommended.

Install

  1. Download Scratch-Studio-1.0.1.dmg below.
  2. Open it and drag Scratch Studio into Applications.
  3. Launch from Applications.

Developer-ID signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens with no security prompt. Requires an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 11 (Big Sur) or later.

Fixed in 1.0.1

  • Advanced statistics now run in the packaged app. Repeated-measures ANOVA, Welch ANOVA, Games–Howell and the Mauchly sphericity check were silently unavailable in the shipped 1.0 build; they now run, and the build is gated so this cannot regress. If you ran any of these in 1.0, please re-check those results.
  • The baseline timepoint is no longer significance-tested. In a time course the first timepoint is the pre-treatment baseline, so it no longer receives a significance marker on charts, in the statistics table, or in two-group comparisons. Only later timepoints are tested against the control.
  • Percent-closure over time now computes correctly when images are not well-linked. If a project's timepoints do not share well identifiers, closure now falls back to comparing each endpoint against the condition's mean baseline area, instead of drawing a flat, near-zero line.
  • Welch's unpaired t-test is now offered for two-condition designs, alongside the two-way ANOVA, for the common endpoint percent-closure comparison.
  • Calibration: the Length field accepts keyboard entry again. You can type the real-world length directly, not only nudge it with the stepper arrows.

@oktarguloglu oktarguloglu released this 21 Jun 19:13

Scratch Studio 1.0

The first public release of Scratch Studio, a macOS app that takes scratch /
wound-healing assays from raw images to publication-ready figures, statistics
and a draft Methods section.

Install

  1. Download Scratch-Studio-1.0.dmg below.
  2. Open it and drag Scratch Studio into Applications.
  3. Launch from Applications.

Developer-ID signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens with no security prompt.
Requires an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 11 (Big Sur) or later.

Highlights

  • Import time-lapse images, multi-well plates, microscopy stacks and videos.
  • Wound segmentation: built-in classical detector or optional on-device
Cellpose / SAM 2, all processed locally on your Mac.
  • Automatic scale-bar calibration (OCR) or manual pixel sizing.
  • A statistics engine that picks robust, defensible tests (Welch, Dunnett
    vs-control, repeated-measures, 4-PL dose–response) with effect sizes and
    assumption checks.
  • Submission-grade charts and a multi-panel figure composer.
  • One-click export to CSV, Excel, PDF, a wound-closing time-lapse animation,
and auto-generated Methods + Results paragraphs that match your figures.
