ONLYOFFICE doesn’t fill its Hyprland tile (fix: system title bar)
#16661
ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors (XWayland, custom title bar) on Omarchy opens in a restored size and does not fill the Hyprland tile it is assigned. Clicking its own maximize button fixes the layout, but Omarchy’s default rule
o.window(".*", { suppress_event="maximize" })
drops client maximize requests, so maximized=true in ~/.config/onlyoffice/DesktopEditors.conf never sticks. Forcing Hyprland maximize/fullscreen covers other windows and still leaves the app’s internal layout unmaximized.
Fix: use the system title bar.
onlyoffice-desktopeditors --system-title-bar
Or make it permanent in ~/.config/onlyoffice/DesktopEditors.conf:
[General]titlebar=system
The window then fills whatever tile Hyprland gives it (including under the 1:1 single-window aspect-ratio toggle) without covering other windows. Package updates do not touch the user config, so the setting persists.
Why an agent kept failing at this
The problem looked like a classic tiling-WM mismatch, and Omarchy’s agent-oriented docs (window rules, suppress_event, layout toggles, Lua examples) pointed every attempt at compositor config. The agent repeatedly:
treated hyprctl size + fullscreenClient 1 as success even when the content was still in the restored layout,
stayed inside Hyprland rules and wrappers,
never tried the application’s own --system-title-bar / titlebar=system option.
The real lever was one layer above the window manager. Rich in-system documentation helped the agent stay in the wrong solution space. For similar cases, check the application’s own flags and config keys before reconfiguring the compositor, and do not accept instrumentation alone as proof when the visual result is still wrong.
