Fingerprint Support

I would like to suggest if the fingerprint support will be implemented for laptops (Lenovo Thinkpad T480)

Officially, Arch's default fingerprint tooling fprintd + libfprint does not recognize the ThinkPad T480's fingerprint reader, which is why command like fprintd-enroll report "No devices available."

Somewhere in the reddit, I have seen people getting success with python-validity (this is the third party driver that adds support for the Synaptics/Validity reader).

That being said, please consider it is still a community workaround rather than an officially supported feature in the main fprint stack and am not sure if it works in every setup.

Here's my steps:

1. Install python-validity

  yay -S python-validity

2. I then had to edit the omarchy-setup-fingerprint script

nvim ~/.local/share/omarchy/bin/omarchy-setup-fingerprint

modify (round about) Line 110

  sudo pacman -S --noconfirm --needed fprintd usbutils

to

  sudo pacman -S --noconfirm --needed usbutils

python-validity installs another version of fprintd that's patched with support for the Validity Sensors.

3. Run omarchy-setup-fingerprint via command line
   or
   Omarchy menu (SUPER ALT + SPACE)
   Setup -> Security -> Fingerprint

4. Enroll your fingerprint.

5. Additional Fingerprints

fprintd-enroll -f left-index-finger

it is wierd everytime i enrolled my right index fingerprint it does not work, how did you setup properly your finger? @kmf

Try and restart your machine ... sometimes there is an issue with the service when the laptop wakes up from suspend or sleep

Thank you for this! It finally works on me, the weird thing is i got error on right-index-finger but right-thumb, right-middle-finger and right-index works. LOL anyways,
is it normal that after i close and open the lid, the fingerprint button doesnt work and i need to type the password?
