Mac dual boot: install Omarchy to a partition alongside macOS (T2 MacBook 12")

I want to install Omarchy on a 12" MacBook (MacBook8,1 / A1535, 2016–2017, T2 chip, 8 GB RAM) as a dual boot alongside macOS — shrink the APFS container, install Omarchy into the freed space, and keep macOS fully bootable.

What I found in the manual:

• Mac support: Omarchy only supports being the only installed OS; the drive is wiped and macOS is no longer bootable.
• Dual boot install: "Free space install" is documented for Windows / other installs.

So my questions:

1. Does "Free space install" already work on an Intel Mac as-is (shrink APFS in Disk Utility → boot the USB → pick "Free space install")? Has anyone tried or succeeded on a T2 Mac, and is there anything Mac-specific to watch out for (Limine boot entry for macOS, T2 firmware, recovery partition)?
2. If not, is a partition install on Mac on the roadmap?

Happy to try it and report back with installer screenshots/logs if that would help.

This works now. I did it today on a MacBook Pro 16,2 (2020, T2) and macOS is still installed and bootable.

Omarchy 4 (Quattro) has a free space install mode that the Mac documentation doesn't mention. You shrink the APFS container from macOS, leave the reclaimed space unallocated, and the ISO offers "Free space install (alongside existing data)". It creates its own dedicated 2 GiB ESP and never touches Apple's ~300 MB one, which removes the usual objection about the Apple ESP being too small for /boot.

The one thing that makes it look like the install failed: Omarchy won't appear in the Option-key boot picker, because the installer sets enable_fallback: false. Copying EFI/limine/limine_x64.efi to EFI/BOOT/BOOTX64.EFI on its ESP fixes it.

I wrote the whole recipe up, including the partition layout and the exact commands, in #7666.

One correction that matters for this thread: the MacBook8,1 / A1535 in the original post is the 2015 12-inch, which is not a T2 machine — T2 starts with the 2018 generation. So the T2-specific parts (the patched linux-t2 kernel, apple-bcm-firmware, t2fanrd, and disabling Secure Boot) don't apply to that hardware, though the free-space install and the BOOTX64.EFI fix do.
