Omarchy already ships fcitx5 and the keyboard manual tells people to
omarchy pkg add fcitx5-chinese-addonsafter install. That is only the IME. A Chinese user still gets an English system: English menus, English shell UI, tofu for CJK, and nozh_CN.UTF-8unless they assemble it themselves. This is a request for Simplified Chinese as a first-class system language, plus the matching IME. Not a wrapper patch, and not IME-only.
Ask
Add an official install/setup choice for 简体中文 that does all of the following:
zh_CN.UTF-8(not English-plus-a-package).zh_CNtranslation on top of it.noto-fonts-cjk) so the desktop is not tofu on first boot.fcitx5-chinese-addonsseeded for new accounts, withkeyboard-usstill available as a layout.English can stay the default for everyone else. Users who pick 简体中文 at install (or in Setup) should get a Chinese system, not an English system they can type Chinese into.
Why
#1525 is people DIY-ing the IME. The missing piece is the OS language. Happy to help test a
zh_CNpath if this is in scope. All reactions
