Foundation opportunity: unblock MediaTek MT7927 / MT6639 Bluetooth firmware upstream

I’m running Omarchy on an ASUS ROG Strix X870-I Gaming WiFi with the MediaTek MT7927 / Filogic 380 combo radio:

• Wi-Fi PCI ID: 14c3:7927
• Bluetooth USB ID: 0489:e13a

On the current Omarchy stable kernel, neither radio works out of the box. I am not asking Omarchy to write a new driver. Most of the engineering is already done:

• MT7927 Wi-Fi support is merged in Linux 7.2, and MediaTek’s Wi-Fi firmware has reached linux-firmware.
• MT6639 Bluetooth driver support is native in Linux 7.1.
• The remaining Bluetooth blocker is the firmware blob mediatek/mt7927/BT_RAM_CODE_MT6639_2_1_hdr.bin.
• The linux-firmware submission was closed because the blob had been extracted from an OEM Windows package and MediaTek had not publicly authorized redistribution.
• The community DKMS package proves that both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth work on this hardware, including this exact ASUS USB ID.

Would the Omacom Foundation be willing to help get the remaining work across the line upstream?

What would help

1. Use Foundation, OEM, and industry relationships to get MediaTek to submit the Bluetooth blob directly or publicly authorize its redistribution.
2. Sponsor or coordinate the existing upstream work with Javier Tia / Linaro and the linux-firmware maintainers if engineering or validation support is still needed.
3. Until the blob lands, provide an official Omarchy compatibility note and a tested, opt-in interim path for affected MT7927 systems.
4. Ensure Omarchy stable picks up the Linux 7.2 Wi-Fi support and corresponding linux-firmware package when validation permits.

This chip ships in hardware from ASUS, Gigabyte, Lenovo, MSI, and TP-Link. Fixing it upstream would help far more than this one machine.
