An open MIDI↔WLED convention — your key→LED mapping is the reference I point to

Hi onlaj — Piano-LED-Visualizer is the project everyone points to for driving a WLED / WS2812 strip from a piano, and the note→LED mapping in it is basically the reference for the whole DIY-piano-LED space. Genuinely great work.

I've been writing down an open, vendor-neutral MIDI↔WLED convention — a documented mapping so different tools speak the same MIDI language to WLED instead of each reinventing one. Its "strip" mode is exactly the note → LED position idea your project nails, with three position functions (a proportional one for a stage strip, a piano-aligned LEDs-per-key one, and a direct note-index one). Honestly your key→LED calibration is the piece I'd point implementers to.

No ask, no agenda — I just wanted you to hear about it from me, and to say: if a shared convention is ever useful to you (or if you'd want that "strip" mode to reflect how Piano-LED-Visualizer actually does the mapping), I'd genuinely love your input. And if not, no worries at all — the credit to your project stands regardless.
