Renaming spaces

I did not find any possibility to change the name of a space. Did I overlook the button?

You probably did not miss an obvious button if the space settings view does not expose one. Renaming should normally be a small action in the space menu or settings panel, but the implementation needs to keep the space ID separate from its display name.

The safe behavior would be:

• require the appropriate space-owner or editor permission
• trim whitespace and reject an empty name
• decide whether names must be unique within an account or workspace
• keep URLs, shared links, and database relations keyed by an immutable ID
• update navigation, breadcrumbs, and cached lists immediately after the rename
• show a conflict or validation message without losing the unsaved name

If the feature is not implemented yet, a good first version can be just a Rename action in the existing space menu; it does not need to rename files or rewrite historical activity. Please include the app version and where you expected the action to appear, because the answer may differ between the gallery view, a shared space, and an administrator view.

It's now possible to rename spaces in 5.2.2. Space owners + editors have the ability. Mobile changes will be in next release
